Has anyone had experience with either? I’m interested in hear what anyone has to say. Was the anything that went wrong with them in particular?

One person I would ask would be Lekker but he is such a lurker anymore. He has a 370 Nismo.

I briefly thought about getting a g37 coupe before I got my German sedan. Seemed like a great pick, and from my initial research they are pretty reliable, parts aren’t insane, and the aftermarket is more than decent. I just had trouble finding manual coupes near me, and the ones I did find were priced too high (approaching 2008 E9x M3 territory) so I gave up. Seemed like a great choice though, and they are holding value pretty well.
Funny enough, I told myself I'd get an E92 335i M-sport manual. I ended up with an auto 328i sedan haha.

Oh man, I knew the V6 wasn't a fuel sipper but is it really THAT bad? Appreciate it.

Update: He says the clutch slave cylinder was the only problem he’s had since he got the car.

I worked for an Infiniti dealer a few years back. G37’s were really quite solid. As far as big repairs go I saw one transmission failure (which was unheard of) and maybe two head gaskets. But honestly even when the head gaskets do leak it’s not really something to worry about because it’s such a minor amount of leakage, a few drops every couple thousand miles at most.

Whoarder has a really nice G37. He loves it and as far I can tell it's been good in cost.

Lol right on, the 328i is no slouch though. Was the 328i the E92 also? How is the V6 and auto pairing?

Definitely a great engine in the 328i.. Great sound and very smooth. The I6 and auto is actually a pretty good combo.. Shifts pretty much when you’d want it to, and the sport mode really works well. Shifting yourself is also pretty good, will basically let you take it up to redline. Still wish I had a manual though!
I’ll admit, there are sometimes where the auto is just in the wrong gear and it’ll take a second for me to get going.. Specifically in this one part of my commute where I accelerate quickly to merge onto a street, stop at a light, merge onto another street and stop at another light. I guess it's too much of me flooring it and braking late haha.

My wife drives a G37 sedan and other than the fact that it takes two air filters for the engine and another kind of pricey one for the cabin the maintenance has been minimal. It just eats miles when you’re traveling.

I would think pretty normal, my friend has a G37S and has never once said anything about it hurting his wallet, in fact I can’t remember it ever being in the shop.

Currently driving a G37S sedan. It’s comfortable if your not a big person for my skinny frame the seat hugs me pretty well and the driving position is probably one of if not the best available in newer cars. Its more than fast enough to keep up with anything on the road and honestly u can sometimes find it hard to drive at the speed limit. Reliability is rock solid. I have a 2013 that I have had for the last year and not a single problem has come up. Before this I had a G35 and that had a few gimmicks that had to be fixed but other wise rock solid as well.

‘06 G35x here (AWD sedan). Car has had suspension and control arm repairs in the past but never anything related to the engine or anything else in the drive bay.
Minor electrical annoyances are now occuring, such as the in-cabin light not always turning on when the passenger door is open and the cruise control light sometimes not wanting to turn on after the first attempt.

The G and Z are going to cost less to maintain than their German equivalents, and slightly more than their Toyota/Honda non-equivalents. I think Nissan sits in the sweet spot of decent reliability without boring you to tears.

Cool, thanks Cherry_man1!
What have the ownership costs been like on the 370? Any big repair bills outside of regular maintenance?
What’s your mileage been like?

Thank you.
I’ve got a 2006 G35 coupe.
Its honestly not “that” insane as far as maintenance costs go. your standard “belts filters oil” every so often. Belts were....$40?
Mine wore out a ball joint and I had to get a new control arm. it was...$50 I think?
My right side window regulator needs to be reset, I had the left side replaced under warranty at one point. my satellite radio antenna stopped working at one point. I didn’t have a subscription, so I didn’t really notice.
I’ve got 114k on it at this point. still drives well.
a clutch for it is kind of pricey, but that’s expected from a sports car with a manual transmission.

I have an 09 G37xs Sedan. So far no problems outside of scheduled fluid changes. But I’ve only had it since May :)
Gas mileage is not great. I get 18ish city, have gotten above 25 on the highway. And it takes premium.
The only major problem I’ve seen on the forums is there are some gaskets in the oil system that can go bad and are a lot of labor to replace. But that seems to be rare.

Do you daily drive it? How does it behave during a commute? How fun is it? Sorry for the vague questions haha
Lekker

Yes I’ve daily driven it for two years. It really is a fun ride, even if you’re just going to buy groceries, the only complaint I have is since Kansas roads are so bad the stiffer suspension setup can become slightly annoying sometimes, but its really not bad. If you’re commuting a lot on freeway it’s a blast, it LOVES corners like a kid loves candy. It’s not terribly fast in a straight line, with only 350hp it can be outrun by many things. But when I tell you it’ll grab on to a turn... I mean like a child hanging on to their mother for their life.
It can be docile or aggressive depending on what you’re trying to do. It has a sophisticated feel inside and out, it is fancy enough to dress up and go on a date - provided you help your date out the car since it is rather low and seats are really bolstered.

Maintenance is a little on the high side in terms of cost, only if you’re keen on taking it to the dealer and using the recommended Ester oil (sp?). I pay 120 per oil change. But I can attest to the quality and performance of the oil. I’ve had 0 expenses other than oil and tires, but the car only has 13k miles. Nothing has ever gone wrong with it, but let me knock on wood.
Tires are on the expensive side, since they’re 285 rears and 245 fronts, I paid 1200 for my last set installed (Conti DWS). I’ve learned as of late how to baby it and I’ve been able to get up to 24mpg on the freeway, but city is where it falls pretty low.. I would say 16-18 is average when I’m being super cautious. Mixed and driving decent you can around 19, as long as you’re not redlining every time or flying off lights or on ramps. If you get on it hard... well I’ve seen as low as 9mpg. But tbh with you it’s so worth it. My one complain is that I wish it had more grunt to it.
